DIY Decoupage Magnolia Easter Eggs

Magnolias are a favourite spring flowers, so what a perfect image to decoupage onto eggs. We first painted these using craft paints for a base (as we’re not eating them) and then once dry, decoupaged some mini magnolias. Check out below how we made them and to get the printables.

What You’ll Need
1 dozen eggs (real, then boiled or blown or craft eggs)
Magnolia printables – click here for the download
Gold egg dye or craft paint
Pastel Green egg dye or craft paint
Modge Podge
paint brush
container or paint palette (to hold the paint you’re using)
xacto knife and xacto cutting board
scissors

Step 1
Paint the eggs. We painted ours in each of the colours (gold and green). Let dry.

Step 2
Cut out all of your pieces. We cut the large pieces using a scissors as it was faster, then cut out the smaller pieces using an xacto knife. Set aside.

Step 3
Start to decoupage the magnolias onto the eggs one by one. First paint some modge podge onto the surface (the size of the cut out magnolias you will be gluing it to). Then place the cut out piece onto the egg. Then paint some modge podge over top of the cut out piece until completely covered, ensuring that the piece is flat and has no ripples or bubbles. Turn the egg and add another piece on to get the desired effect you’d like. Let dry.

DIY Magnolia Printable Napkins + Easter Tablescape

With Easter just around the corner, thoughts of creating a tablescape was this week’s goal. I always love a challenge of creating something without buying anything new (including supplies); and so this project ended up not costing us anything extra since I used stuff we already had around, except purchasing fresh eggs. Digging through our craft supplies I found leftover iron-on transfer paper from another project and some white fabric to create napkins, for the eggs, a little modge podge, paint and a printer. DIY Magnolia Napkins

These iron on transfers are a great way to create bespoke napkins for Easter or spring and can be made in less than an hour. Just print out the magnolia printables and iron on!

You Will Need:
2 Magnolia napkin printable green (prints onto an 8.5 x 11 size)
2 Magnolia napkin printable pink (prints onto an 8.5 x 11 size)

4 Iron-on Transfer Paper
4 napkins (preferably lighter colours)
Printer
Iron

Print out the magnolia printables (links above) onto iron-on transfer paper, we used 2 green and 2 pink. But feel free to use all green or all pink. Cut around each flower. Iron each transfer onto each of the napkins (per the instructions that come with the iron on transfer paper) Peel off the transfer paper to reveal the magnolias onto the napkin fabric.

DIY | Easter Eggs Tropicale

We’re going tropical this Easter with this set of banana and monstera decoupaged eggs. We drew (leaves and bananas) for you to download and make these yourself (if you’re inspired). We painted them using craft paints (as we’re not eating these), but add some real eggs to the mix if you like dyed in pastel colours to compliment the collection. Check out below how we made them and to get the printables.

What You’ll Need

Leaf printables (print off as many as you need) – click here for the download
Banana printables – click here for the download
Pastel Pink egg dye or craft paint
Pastel Blue egg dye or craft paint
Pastel Yellow egg dye or craft paint
Mod Podge

xacto knife and xacto cutting board
scissors

Step 1
Paint the eggs. We painted 4 in each of the colours (pink, blue and yellow). Let dry.

Step 2
Cut out all of your pieces. We cut the large pieces using a scissors as it was faster, then cut out the smaller pieces using an xacto knife. Set aside.

Step 3
Start to decoupage the leaves or bananas on the eggs one by one. First paint some mod podge onto the surface (the size of the leaf or banana you will be gluing it to). Then place the cut out leaf or banana onto the egg. Then paint more mod podge over top of the cut out piece until completely covered, ensuring that the piece is flat and has no ripples or bubbles. Turn the egg and add another piece on to get the desired effect you’d like. Let dry.

Step 4
Go bananas!

Step 5
You’re done! Yay!

DIY: Easter Place Cards

I’m hosting my family’s Easter brunch this year, so I’ve made some origami “place cards” for everyone. Really easy to do and they look pretty cute too. I made rabbit sugar cookies to place inside each pocket. I figure most of you have your own cookie recipe but, if you don’t, just let me know and I’ll post mine.

I scanned three different fabrics, then printed them on a heavier stock paper. Each piece was cut to 8″x8″. You can use any type of paper you like, as long as it’s square.

Stamp or print names on front flap of pocket

Last but not least, eat your place card.

Happy Hippity Hop! Send a Secret Message Easter Egg

You will need:

1 egg (with egg blown out)
bowl
1 pin
watercolours
paper
pen or pencil
xacto knife or scissors
a small box (that will fit an egg)

Step 1
Blow out the egg yolk out of the egg. Simply pierce both ends with a needle, making sure to create a big enough hole for the yolk and whites to come out of. Blow into one end into a bowl, until all of the inside yolk and whites have been removed.

Step 2
Paint the egg to your liking. We love their polka dot one! Psssst! To make a perfect polka dot, dip the end of a pencil’s eraser into the paint, then dab.

Step 3
Cut a strip of paper for your message using an xacto knife or scissors. We love the use of graph paper or accounting paper.

Step 4
Write your message.

Step 5
Roll up the message small enough to fit into the whole (you blew out of) of the egg and insert into the egg.

Step 6
Place in box! Make a fun “hint” message for the top inside of the box if you like!

Post!
